Teresa Green

Teresa Green is a former local elected official in New Jersey, who now runs a small business in Kingston, NY. She is a member of the Organizing Committee of the Stony Run Tenant Union as well as a member of For the Many. After Kingston became the first city to opt into rent stabilization in Kingston, NY, Teresa joined a meeting in her building to learn more about what rent control would mean for tenants. At the meeting, she learned that many in her building were dealing with sky-high rent hikes and unsafe living conditions like hazardous mold. Teresa joined the fight to demand a 15% rent reduction in Kingston and began organizing in the Stony Run Tenant Union to put pressure on her landlord to make needed repairs. As she continues to fight for rent stabilization, Teresa underscores the importance of knowing your rights and your representatives because the power is in the people.
